Our rooms cost pretty much the same in both cities but we got a lot more for our money in Merida. We had a spacious apartment across two floors with air con, fast wifi and Netflix on a flat screen TV. In Valladolid we were in a lovely hostel which had a great location and good free breakfasts but the wifi was poor, we had a shared bathroom and no air con.
Transport – Mex$1,119 / £47.82 / $59.52 – 12.2%
We got ripped off on an already expensive taxi journey from the airport when the driver who took us to the wrong location. It was too late at night to argue and we just wanted to get to the Air B n B. We couldn’t help think that this was the beginning of being ripped of in touristy Yucatan. Apart from that, the other taxi drivers we used to get around town were friendly and gave us a fair prices.
